Uptown Boot Socks

Yarn: Cherry Tree Hill supersock, 100% merino in "Slate"

Needles: S.B. dpns size2

Cast on first sock: Nov9

Cast off second sock: Nov30

Wow, a cable all over sock. That was much more work than I thought it was going to be. The second sock took me three days to knit. I took a hiatis between socks to whip up half a dozen mini-socks. Surprisingly, I learned a lot from those mini-socks. I realized that I was doing the SSK wrong. Yes, fundamental error. I was being lazy and just "k2tog-through back loop". So the ssk is finally right, now comes the lesson of the "kitchener stitch". I was seriously overtightening the stitches AND on the purl-through stitch, I was purling through the back loop and not the front loop. After these two realizations, I now have a kitchener stitch that you can't see. Just look at the beautiful job in the photo below. So exciting! Whoo-hoo for me!

WIP - August 29

Waving Lace socks... so close to being done with my September socks. I just have to wait until Saturday {for it to be September} so I can kitcher-stitch them off to take credit for them being finished in September for the SOMkal. So excited to have my third pair of socks off the needles and then onto my feet.

As the Heel turns...

Well, Knit Socks! by Betsy Lee McCarthy did not disappoint. She guided me through even though I had to go back to the heel turning section to read it over again, cause how the hell am I going to only work part of a row? Obviously someone was drinking when they wrote it, and was doing a bit of her own editing as well. But, since there are firsts for everything, I will admit that I was wrong and she was right. I looked for a picture of her to create a target for dart throwing, but sadly there was none. What kind of self-promoting author is she? Obviously not a good one. I do have to give her credit. She knows her socks. The only thing I found lacking was a comment to move to one needle while creating the heel flap, but it was simple to figure out. Everything else has been step-by-step explained.
